Quality, Quantity or Price? Which is Most Important?

Question MarkIn a recent survey I conducted on Facebook.com , I was surprised to learn that people unanimously voted that quality was more imporant than quantity or even price!

Now I was stunned that it was a 100% unamimous vote here, because I expected some people to opt for either price or quantity.

But the conclusion that I draw from this survey is that people really do want quality.  And perhaps, in a society that has now designed products to fall apart intentionally, quality is the key ingredient in the cake that is missing?  And further, where there are now so many options, finding quality is just that much harder.

I know so many people who go hunting through the papers for “older” versions of stuff because it was made the “old” way and built to last.

So when it comes to selling your business products and services and the whole pricing consideration, do you know what is going to represent value to your customer in terms of the quality of service or product they are going to receive from you?

I know that from my first business I learned that masters get paid more than jack of all trades and that if you are spreading yourself too thinly by taking on new skills areas all the time, you never get to reach the master status.  Further, if your work is not quality workmanship, then you can kiss the bigger dollars goodbye and I think you’ll agree if you are having to churn out quantity the quality really does suffer somewhat.

So in considering the quality aspect of your business, it pays to think about the products or services that you are offering and to ask yourself the question, “Am I offering quality or quantity?  And if I am offering quality, is it going to be perceived value if I offer it at the current price?”

I don’t know if you have heard of the 20:80 rule, but it says that 80% of your income will be generated by 20% of your customers.  So if you focus your attention on the 20% who appreciate quality, then you are going to do very well in your business.

Which brings me to my concluduing point…

Do you know how well you are doing in your business?  Have you really considered all the aspects of putting your product or services out to market.  Are you making do with packaging that you created off your computer because you are too scared to step out and get some professional assistance?
